Ingredients

  • 1 lb salmon fillets 4 pieces
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 1- inch piece of ginger grated
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds for garnish
  • 1 scallion thinly sliced (for garnish)

Instructions

Prepare the Teriyaki Sauce:

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F.
  • Combine soy sauce, ¾ cup water, minced garlic, grated ginger, honey, and brown sugar in a small saucepan.
  • Place the saucepan over medium heat and stir until the sugar dissolves and the mixture starts to thicken.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk the cornstarch with the remaining water to form a slurry.
  • Add the slurry to the saucepan, stirring until the sauce thickens and becomes glossy, about 2-3 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and set aside to cool.

Marinate the Salmon:

  • Arrange the salmon fillets in a shallow dish or sealable plastic bag.
  • Pour the prepared teriyaki sauce over the salmon, ensuring all pieces are evenly coated.
  • Seal the dish or bag and refrigerate for at least 15 minutes, or up to 1 hour, to let the flavors infuse.

Air Fry the Salmon:

  • Take the marinated salmon out of the fridge and place it in an air fryer-safe dish.
  • Cook the salmon in the air fryer for approximately 12 minutes, or until it reaches your preferred doneness. The fish should be flaky and cooked through.
  • For a caramelized glaze, brush the salmon with some of the reserved teriyaki sauce during the last 2-3 minutes of cooking.

Garnish and Serve:

  • Carefully remove the salmon from the air fryer once cooked.
  • Sprinkle sesame seeds and thinly sliced scallions on top for garnish.
  • Serve hot over steamed rice or alongside your favorite sides.

Notes

Be sure to let the salmon sit in the teriyaki sauce for at least 15 minutes to soak up the flavors.
The salmon should flake easily with a fork when fully cooked. Use a thermometer (145°F) for precision.
For a caramelized glaze, brush the salmon with reserved teriyaki sauce in the last 2-3 minutes of cooking.
Make the teriyaki sauce in advance to save time during busy evenings.
